Component Audio Video Cable - Connect Your RCA Home Theater Sound System

Component Audio Video CableIf you've finally made the upgrade to high definition or LCD television, you are likely now wondering how you will connect the various components of your home entertainment or home theater system to this new TV set. The component video audio cable is what you will need to connect various parts of your entertainment system, such as your DVD player, satellite box, cable box, blue-ray player, video game system like Xbox or PlayStation or other device.

The component video audio cable allows you to put an end to the nightmare of connecting video with one cord and audio with another cord, if your devices don't have an HDMI cable input. HDMI cable is the ideal cable for your television. This type of cable (HDMI cable), is used to connect devices and system parts (DVD, CD player, or other devices) that have an input for HDMI to your high definition or LCD television. Check your components to see that they can use this type of cable. Hopefully, they will have this capability (most new electronics do; don't expect your old VCR to have one).

RCA RT2600 Home Theater System

The video here shows the AV receiver for RCA's RT2600 Home Theater System. This is a classic 2002 RCA Home Theater System, and it used to be at the center stage of my parents home boasting the following stupendous power specs:

650-Watt Dolby Digital Receiver with 150-Watt Powered Subwoofer
• 650-Watts Total Power (100 Watts x 5 + 150-Watt Powered Subwoofer)
• Dolby Digital1 Surround Decoding
• Dolby1 ProLogic II
• DTS2 Surround Decoding
• Digital Sound Processing (DSP)
• 3 S-Video Connections
• Compatible with DVD audio and SACD
• Digital AM/FM Stereo Tuner with 40 Presets

I remember very well totally immersed in its powerful sound energy and earth shattering subwoofer effects while we were watching Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Cables and Sound Quality

In the previous post, I extolled about the virtues of the HDMI cable and how HDMI cables can enhance the visual quality of your prized RCA home theater system. Now, I am going to expand on this topic about audio cables.

RCA home theater system cablesA friend of mine who is an audiophile enthusiast told me over the long weekend that we should pay as much as we can for the audio cables in our sound system, be it an audiophile system, or a home theater surround sound system. He said that audio cables are like the veins and arteries in our bodies - essential and vital, and must be as "clean" as possible - free of blood cots or fat residues.

Come on, this is a guy who has no qualms about spending big bucks for a high-end Kimber speaker cables and interconnect. I guess he must be loaded with cold hard cash from his day trading!

Sadly, I beg to differ on his view.

There's really no such thing as a "best" audio cable, or even a "better" audio cable. It all depends on your home theater surround system setup. For example, I am very happy with my humble sound of my RCA home theater system. I think it rocks, as the acoustics match nicely with my room setup. Yes, I have done a little bit of tweaks. Out goes the original manufacturer speaker cables....

Just so long as you're using the right cable for the right setup, you should get clear, quality sound no matter what.

Sorry, i have to say you are dead wrong, my buddy.

About HDMI..

High Definition Multimedia Interface HDMIToday, I am going to share about HDMI cables which is the de facto standard used by most home theater systems and computers for transmitting multimedia audio video signals across the networks nowadays. I am sure you have heard of HDMI when you are shopping for a RCA home theater system or latest computers.

HDMI - High Definition Multimedia Interface.

From the name, you can understand that it is an interface. HDMI first comes about with the gaining popularity of Blue-ray DVD players and flat panel LCD/LED televisions.

In HDMI, you have 19 individual wires wrapped inside and what makes HDMI so special is that it's capable of transmitting a gigantic rate of 10.2 Gbps which should be enough to last through the burgeoning audio-visual requirements for the next 5 years at least. This by itself, is already a sure-sell feature over other AV interfaces like component video or composite video.

Another sure-sell advantage of HDMI is that it is pure digital transmission without the need for signal conversion at sender/receiver end, thus making the picturs and sounds even sharper and clearer.
